Well I’ve been holding yoga space for about a month now and honestly, I LOVE IT!
I LERVV IT! SO. MUCH. I can’t type how much I love it so I’m going to go the playing-it-cool route.
Its been so awesome getting to meet the residents of my city and just getting to share something I love with people. I’ve gotten so much support, I hope I can pay it forward and back, if and when the time should come! I’ve been listening to you all and I’m making some updates.
Since I held a bunch of classes on different times and days during the month of April, I’m figuring out which classes and times work well for people, and what type of yoga flows work best for your bodies.
A lot of people are nervous about trying yoga. What I’m hearing is, you don’t want to be in a class with experienced people, who may know a few more poses then you or whose bodies might look different from their own. And while I try to make my classes accessible for all levels, and they currently are, I realize I would eventually be doing a disservice to both groups – consistent yoga practitioners and those who may be on the newer side.
With that in mind, I am permanently adding a beginners level yoga class every Saturday morning at 930am. Taking some time to breakdown a few basic poses and keep the tempo of the class slightly slower to allow for questions, will hopefully encourage people to drop their fears and listen to their bodies. Bring your mat, a bottle of water, maybe a friend and a willing spirit!
One class that has really picked up is the Soulful Sunday Class. Sunday is one of my favorite days of the week and also my personal day of relaxation, so I like to think this class prepares you for the week ahead. I try to keep the music funky and teach a flow that allows for mildly sweaty body movements. The 1030am time lets you sleep a little late but still leaves room for a post workout brunch and the rest of your day, lol!
People seem to want some type of motivation to start off the week so I’m adding Monday evening at 6:15pm to the schedule. This class is a more meditative class, where we hold restorative poses longer. Many people get the “Monday blues” but we can turn that on its ear and use this day as a mental reset, speaking kind, encouraging words to ourselves.
I offered a community class every other Thursday during the month of April and would actually like to keep that in place, but move it to a different day! I feel like Wednesday evenings at 530pm could work well, especially as the weather gets warmer, we get nice light in the studio and we can throw open the windows and enjoy the sounds of the Campello neighborhood.
I am still at Work Out World, WOW! New England on Thursday mornings at 9am, so if you are a member, come check out my class! They are an awesome group of people and some of my faves to yoga with(check them out in the picture above)!
As always, stay safe, healthy and active!
Peace and Power,
